looking down at her beautiful baby boy, Emeline Bletchley couldn't believe just how much her life had changed in the past few years. if you had asked her that she'd be where she was today when she was sixteen she probably would have laughed at the mere idea. even if she had had a crush on the man who was now her fiancee, she still wouldn't have ever thought things would turn out the way they did. granted in her sixth year Emeline was quite sure that her life was ending all because of one guy that she saw now was not the guy for her. at the still young age of twenty one just months shy of twenty two, things seemed to be finally coming together for her. she was engaged to a wonderful and marvelous man, someone who had been her best friend since her first year at Hogwarts. that man was none other then Tucker Weasley, and boy had they over come their obstacles to get where they were. yet they had been together for just about five years now and things really couldn't get any better. well except for on the day that they would say i do, and even that seemed to be coming up rather quickly. it had seemed like Emeline had been planning their wedding for months on end, having done most of the work well she was pregnant with their first child. nine months was a long time to be able to do nothing and that was exactly all she was allowed to do. Tucker had been so worried that something would go admist that he refused to let her over work herself and unfortunately the Healer had agreed. given the circumstances that she had lost a child once before and the fact that she was so tiny, she had been under bed rest for majority of her pregnancy. something that didn't sit well with the former Ravenclaw, not liking that she couldn't always be busy doing something. that was when she had started planning their wedding for Tucker had proposed just before she had found out she was pregnant. it was like everything had been happening so fast, though those nine months seemed to feel like they had taken forever. now though they had this precious baby boy who was no more then two months old and with each passing day Emeline was seeing that he looked more and more like his father. she could only hope that when he got older he would have his fathers personality as well, because if he had hers then they were going to be in some trouble. for little Trenton could be quite the heart breaker if he wanted to be.
reaching down Emeline brushed her fingers lightly against her sons fingers, able to watch him sleep for hours. she had fallen into the mother role very easily, like it was second nature to her and she loved every minute of it. this precious little bundle of joy was the perfect combination between the both of them. seeing the glitter of her engagement ring being caught by the moon light that was streaming into the room she couldn't keep herself from smiling. taking her hand slowly out from her sons crib Emeline sighed softly. it was hard to believe that four years ago she had been arranged to marry one of her other best friends Tristan Baddock. when her parents had found out that she was dating a Weasley, well to say they were less then thrilled would be a bit of an understatement. her mum wouldn't hear anything about it and made sure her father perused her some sort of pureblood husband. given that her mum had always adored Tristan when he and Emeline had dated it had seemed all signs pointed to him. the news had been plenty shocking to Emeline but it still didn't change how she felt about Tucker, nothing would. sure she had cared about Tristan and they might have made a perfect pureblood couple but he was her best friend. however her parents seemed to think that because they had dated and appeared to be in love before that it would be no problem for them to be together for the rest of their lives. yes she had loved Tristan but it was nothing compared to how she felt about Tucker. the way she loved him, it was completely and indescribable. not even the love she felt for Carter held a light to the way she loved Tucker and that was saying something since breaking up with Carter was one of the hardest things Emeline had ever went through. it was that break up that had led her into the arms of Tucker in a way that she would have never considered before since she had been denying her feelings for him since her third year. pain was something that Emeline never handled very well. it seemed that whenever she was hurting she would turn to the wrong sort of comfort and that comfort usually came in the form of a member of the opposite sex. it wasn't something she was proud of but thankfully it wasn't as bad as it could have been. she could have wound up sleeping with random blokes but instead found herself in bed with guys that she had already been with. it was far from healthy, especially sleeping with James, but it was what it was.
James Sirius Potter, was bound to be the end of Emeline Bletchley. he was the one guy that she should have known to stay away from but for some reason kept going back too. it seemed like no matter what happened in her life, whenever something went wrong James was there to help her through it. it was an odd way of explaining things, especially since the two of them hated each other so and barely tolerated one another now because of Tucker but that was how it was. of course he wasn't there for her in the friend sort of way, oh no. he was there for her in the worse sort of way, erasing all sort of pain from her mind and replacing it with pleasure the sort that these days she had only been having with Tucker. thankfully though, she seemed to have washed her hands of James. having no reason to go back to him because she was finally in a happy and amazing relationship. the only time she saw him now was at Weasley family gatherings and that was because she would attend with Tucker. it was ironic that it was one of these family get togethers that had almost costed her Tucker in the first place. she still remembered that day as though it was yesterday and whenever she would think about it chills would go through her body. in her sixth year Tucker had asked her to attend the Weasley Family Christmas with him and she had gladly agreed forgetting James would be there. Emeline had barely spoken to him, but realization had hit her that if she wanted anything with Tucker and she did more then ever then she would have to be honest with him about everything. it was later on in that evening when Tucker had joined her at her house to get his gift that Emeline finally told him everything. how when she had thought she was pregnant back in her third year, James was the one that she had been sleeping with or rather had some sort of secret relationship with. she even told him how even though that had hurt her, James just abandoning her like that, she was still going back to him and had just recently slept with him. her heart ached at the expression that had come across Tucker's face and watching him walk away had been the hardest thing ever. Emeline thought for sure she had lost him that night, so much so that she even went and cried on his brothers shoulder about how foolish she had been and how she had loved Tucker all this time. the next day though Tucker had come to her and refused to throw everything they had away for his cousin. Emeline didn't think it could get much better then just finally being with Tucker, but soon found that it could. when they got engaged and when she found out she was pregnant, things just kept on getting better.
though things had hardly fallen into place for the pair it seemed like every obstacle they over came only really made them that much more stronger. she was meant to be with Tucker Weasley, she knew that in her heart and nothing was going to change that for her. out of all the guys in her past, and there was seemingly a long list of them, Tucker was the one for her. she honestly couldn't wait to say i do in a few short weeks and continue to make gorgeous babies with him. smiling as the thought crossed her mind, just as a pair of arms came around her waist from behind Emeline sighed contently. they had just gotten back from a the Weasley Christmas family get together, all so thrilled and excited to see little Trenton and the night had generally been a good night. something was off with Tucker though, Emeline could just tell. resting her hands upon his and leaning back against him ever so slightly she could feel the tension in his body and knew something was wrong. turning around to face him with a curious expression she took his hand in hers and lead him from their first childs room into their own. "whats wrong Tucker?" the question came from her lips as she closed the door, turning around so her blue eyes settle on her fiancee. after a moment or two of silence and them simply looking at one another he finally answered. "you looked mighty friendly with James tonight." all Emeline could do was stare at him. she had thought they were beyond this, but apparently it would always be a sore spot with them. a heavy sigh escaping her lips she crossed the room and sat down next to him. "i thought we were over this Tucker. i thought accepting your proposal would make you see that i only want to be with you. i can't keep defending myself every time we are around James. he's your cousin, he's gonna be around whether we like it or not so why not make the most out of it?" trying to keep herself calm and rational through this, not really wanting to fight with him. "being aroud him is one thing. laughing and smiling around him is another Eme!" Tucker replied getting up off the bed making Emeline completely dumb founded. standing up Emeline smoothed out her skirt and looked down at the engagement ring on her finger. "if you don't trust me around him, then you don't trust me at all Tucker. which means that i shouldn't be wearing this." sliding her engagement ring off she walked over to him and placed it in his hand, gently closing his fingers around it. "i love you Tucker, but if you don't trust me then i can't do this. i thought we put this behind us, we were moving forward and i was looking forward to being your wife in a few weeks." looking up at him with tears in her eyes Emeline stepped around him and opened the door.
without another word Emeline left their room and went downstairs. she didn't give Tucker a chance to say anything else, as she gathered her purse and coat leaving the home they had been living in for the past year. tugging on her coat as she closed the door behind her and pulling the hood up, to protect herself against the harsh wind that had picked up outside. the dead of winter, almost Christmas day and Emeline had no idea where she was going to go. she wasn't like most purebloods and had a spare apartment or anything like that, she didn't think she'd ever need one. her home with Tucker was the only place she wanted to be but apparently he didn't think that was the case. shaking her head Emeline apperated from the front porch taking herself to the only place she could think of. Diagon Alley. it hadn't changed since her years of going there as a kid but the only place she was interested in was the pubs. it wasn't that she wanted to drink but it was the only place she could think of that would be warm and have other people around so she wouldn't feel so alone. she had left the man she loved at home with their child, she felt empty and lost. her heels clicked against the cobblestone walk way as she headed into the pub, brushing the snow of her coat as she entered. not really giving the people around her a single look she walked right up to the bar and took up one of the stools. it was then that the tears finally rolled down her cheeks, causing her to put her face into her hands. she honestly couldn't believe after everything this was what it had come down too. "what can i get you miss?" the heavy voice of the bar tender reached her ears. brushing the tears from her cheeks Emeline lifted her head high, as to say that she was perfectly okay and looked at him. "vodka tonic please." so much for not wanting alcohol. once the drink was in her hand Emeline took a small sip and looked around. her eyes however only got about an inch away from the bar when they landed on him. of all the people James Potter had to be in the pub that she went too. of course this would be just her luck. sighing heavily, she looked away from him hoping that he hadn't seen her, especially that he hadn't seen her cry. fate was either trying to play a cruel joke on her or temptation was attempting to knock at the worse time. she was never very good at being in a room on her own with James, but tonight she was gonna try to stay strong. just so that she could say she had been and that she could tell Tucker that he had nothing to worry about because she loved him. now if only it would work.
