*----- wake up, it's time little girl
just remember who i am in the morning
if there was one thing allegra prided herself on, it was her amazing taste in friends, and the way all her friends were loyal and awesome. no, seriously. she thought of most of her friends as extended family, especially considering the fact that she lived with most of them half the time. especially when her dad was at work, and mum was home with her alone over the summer. running away was the best option for her in those times. eight out of ten times, she would only run through the bushes and to evan’s house, where she could vent for an hour to her best friend before spending the rest of the day, or night, laying on his couch watching bad movies or awful muggle television. she could always count on evan to be there for her. it was one of the many reasons he was her best friend, and why she loved him so bloody much. if it wasn’t evan’s house she went to, it was usually because he wasn’t home, or because she needed a girl’s advice. allegra was the worst excuse for a girl the world had seen. she was such a tomboy it wasn’t even funny. not that her cousin was any more of a girl than she was, but when you put the both of them together, they made one functional girl- or at least, close to it. her cousin completely understood her. the way their mothers completed one completely insane person, allegra and her cousin were the exact same way. their mothers approved of the idea of them being best friends, seeing as they were both girls, and it proved that allegra had the capacity to have friends that were girls. but the both of them were so unlike their mothers that it wasn’t exactly what they were expecting. allegra and her cousin barely spoke about guys or make up, or anything else that was even close to being ‘normal girl talk’. they mostly talked about music and quidditch, and getting the quidditch cup out of james potter’s grubby hands and into allegra’s, at the least. she wouldn’t mind if another house got the cup, or even one of the other schools. hell, the durmstrang team was killing on the field, and with a krum on their team, it was no shock. but it was about time for potter’s ego to be completely crushed. allegra was the youngest of all the captains, leading the team as a sixth year rather than a seventh year, like the rest of them. it would be nice to put potter in his place. more often then not, it would be allegra, evan and her cousin discussing strategy and getting allegra’s mind off of strangling her mother and confessing everything to her father. they were awesome friends. she had a bunch of strictly quidditch friends who kept her sane off the field and during the game, so she wouldn’t fall off her broom. her team was absolutely amazing. she was glad to be able to call them friends. she was great friends with aus carmicheal, who was pretty much her as a blonde and a year older. aus was amazing. they shared a hatred of their legit name (since her real first name was autumn, but everyone just called her austin, or aus) a love of all things music, and tended to hang out more with guys than girls, with the exception of each other. they hung around the same crowd too. fred weasley was a mutual friend, since that ginger was seriously the craziest thing she’d met since his best mate maverick mclaggen. mav was… well, he was a nut in every sense of the word. she couldn’t count the amount of times he hit on her while commenting on the quidditch games, especially before she grew used to it, and didn’t just resort to throwing things at his head.
then there was goldfish. carter goldstein, aka goldfish, was probably allegra’s best guy friend, right next to evan. she was friends with evan for half her life. she didn’t meet fish until hogwarts, but even so, they became fast friends in aj’s first year, when she brought her baby down to the common room and started playing. if anyone understood allegra on a musical level, it was goldfish. they listened to most of the same music, and anything they weren’t mutually into, they suggested it to each other, and soon they were mutually interested, except in the odd case that it just wasn’t their taste. but that rarely happened. when it came to personal life stuff, allegra always knew goldfish was there for her. he was all ears, and just about the first person she went to at the lockdown. it was between goldfish and evan, one on each side, trying to stop her from having a panic attack from the pressure of emotions. of course, fish eventually had his own lockdown drama to deal with, which only put more stress on allegra. since first year, allegra’s girliest friend was very easily emeline bletchley, a pureblood, purebred girl. she was the quintessential example of every guy’s fantasy girl, and it was no question as to why. she was gorgeous, and knew how to use her looks and what to do with herself when she woke up in the morning, rather then putting on eyeliner, running her hands through her hair and rolling out of bed, the way allegra did. on any normal day, allegra would’ve written eme off immediately and they never would’ve been friends. but evan made sure that didn’t happen. one day together in the compartment of the train to hogwarts, and the three of them were as thick as thieves. eme made sure allegra was at least semi in touch with her girl side, and she was pretty sure samantha loved her for it. she and eme were the most unlikely of friends, but that didn’t change the fact that they were, and for six years, they were as close as sisters. allegra was one of the only people who knew about what happened with eme and james potter- yet another reason he annoyed the living hell out of her- and eme was sort of the sponge to all of allegra’s confusing feelings about evan and bronx and the rest of her overly confusing love life. at first, when allegra heard of the relationship between fish and eme, she was ecstatic. two of her best friends, dating? how awesome was that?! she knew fish was a good guy and would never pressure eme, or be a jerk to her, or anything like that. they were really cute together, though she and evan would joke around and pretend to gag when they would be all couple-y. yeah, it was weird, cuz eme was clueless about music and all that, and she was so beyond girly, but they seemed good together. as time went on, she really thought they were going to last, especially after the past summer, when they were headed for a year together. she never expected emery to come along and ruin just about everything unintentionally. truth be told, it made more sense for emery and fish to be together, but of course she supported her best friend. as the weeks went on and fish started to fall for emery, and allegra started to become friends with the girl… it put her in a rough spot. she didn’t quite know what to do with it. it all ended up blowing up in her face after lockdown, when everything just blew up- her and bronx, fish and eme. it all just… she never meant to take it out on eme and call her the things she did. she never meant to keep things from eme… it just happened.
allegra hadn’t spoken to emeline in weeks, maybe it was months by now. she hadn’t even spoken much to goldfish. most of her time was spent getting herself straight, especially after her massive fight with evan. after that went down, she wanted more than anything to ask for eme’s help, but she couldn’t. that would require swallowing her pride. but once the christmas holidays ended, and everything started to sort themselves out, allegra decided it was time. the only one of her friends who talked to eme anymore was evan, but that was… well, she didn’t want to put stress on the whole new relationship thing. so the only one she could go to was fish. allegra finally got the whole story of what happened in gryffindor tower the night he spent the night with mav and saw eme in the morning. apparently, they met on the stairs, and she was wearing james potter’s shirt. at that point, allegra didn’t even care about the rest of the story. how… how could she?! after all that happened with james in the past, she just goes back and sleeps with him?! he was tucker’s cousin! and if it couldn’t be fish, it had to at least be duckie! UGH. stomping up the girl’s dormitory, allegra searched her bed for something to throw. she picked up the latest edition of the daily prophet, rolled it into a cylinder and marched over to eme’s bed. without any notice at all, allegra hit eme on the shoulder. “you have got- to be- kidding-me.” allegra said between every hit she laid on eme’s shoulder and arm. she didn’t care if they weren’t friends anymore. even if they were, this would be how she would react. “after everything that happened- after everything he’s put you through, eme. and you just go back to him?! are- are you insane by any chance?” she said, placing the hits on her legs this time. the hitting wasn’t entirely hard. it wasn’t like was doing it softly, but she wasn’t leaving welts. if she wanted to leave welts, she would’ve searched for a beater’s bat in the boys dorm first. but no. this was hitting for eme’s well being. or, so she told herself. “i just… i can’t believe you! if anyone found out besides me and fish… if tucker found out. jesus eme.” allegra said, running a hand absently through her bangs. “come on, get up then. we’re taking you to st. mungo’s and getting your head checked. i’m pretty sure you have a concussion or something else impairing your judgment. let’s go.” she said, pointing her newspaper at the door. there was a part of her that wanted to fall over and die laughing, another that wanted to sit on eme’s bed and apologize, but this was about the only way she could handle things. humor and hitting her. great way to apologize.
