evalee nott. words: 1037. credit:notes: sorry if it's terrible. next one will be better. c:[/ul] scorpius knew that this had to happen. everyone in the world (perhaps that was an overstatement, but scor allowed himself to make it for the time being) knew that evalee nott and scorpius malfoy were made for each other. it was just meant to be. another thing everyone seemed to know was the fact that eventually, scorpius malfoy would have to marry someone -- someone that fulfilled every standard that the pureblood society still upheld, and someone who could make draco and astoria happy as well. the latter would be the more difficult of the two tasks, but scorpius had known his entire life who he wanted to marry. they had started out as friends, he and evalee. over the years to come, scorpius knew that he couldn't remain her best friend. well, he could, and he still wanted to, but he also wanted more than that. scorpius malfoy hadn't felt that way about anyone before, and despite how much he wanted his father to see how strong of a person he was, he couldn't do anything but melt whenever evalee was around. he wanted to be ashamed of himself for being so weak around someone else -- especially a girl -- but he couldn't fight it, not anymore. evalee and scorpius eventually began dating, and the world seemed to stop for the two of them. everything was perfect. scorpius was the prince of slytherin by birthright, and evalee was there by his side. he could only imagine how happy they would be once they moved up to seventh year, when eva could finally rule as the queen of slytherin. scor knew hwo much she had wanted it, and it was safe to say that he wanted it for her just as much.
eventually, however, things seemed to die off in their relationship. the excitement wasn't there anymore, and scorpius couldn't decide where he had gone wrong. because of their images and reputations, the couple decided to remain that; a couple. however, everything was different behind closed doors. whenever scorpius wasn't in public with evalee, he was with someone else. for a period of time, scor had met up with lily potter -- someone he knew his father would have gunned down had he known about the two having secret meetings in abandoned classrooms. needless to say, scorpius and evalee had hit a rough patch. they were still incredibly close friends, and still went to one another with everything. scorpius was still her best friend, afterall, and he couldn't turn her away. eventually, however, scorpius realized that something was bothering him. he had taken evalee to hogsmeade, trying to be as secretive as humanly possible. scorpius knew by seeing evalee with tyler smith that he couldn't stand her being with anyone else but him. astoria and draco had already begun looking for a match for their son -- their only son -- and evalee, naturally, had been in the running. the topic had been brought to scorpius' attention, and the night of their hogsmeade date, he told her to clear her schedule for an engagement party. he had been as vague as possible concerning the details, but he knew that he had to be -- if he gave off even the slightest trace of what he was really planning, evalee would have known something was up. tonight had been something scorpius had been waiting for his entire life, and now it was finally happening. evalee nott had accepted his proposal; something that still hadn't registered in his mind.
allowing his eyes to gaze upon his flawless fiance once more, scorpius felt a sheepish grin draw itself along his lips. "come with me," he said softly, extending his hand to her. everyone behind them had seemingly forgotten about the two; scor assumed that they were talking about the wedding, which would occur a few months after their graduation the following year. scorpius gently tugged at her hand, pulling evalee up a small set of marble stairs onto the balcony and closed the double doors behind them. scorpius allowed himself another glance at eva as the same childish grin swept across his lips, while he silently moved across the balcony towards her. "um, so...i'm sorry i didn't tell you about all of this when you asked me about it. i just wanted it to be a surprise." scorpius released a near-silent laugh, one that only evalee might have heard. he nearly raised an eyebrow at his own words, but he quickly dismissed it. scorpius malfoy didn't stutter, but eva had always brought out sides of him that no one had ever seen. scor raised an eyebrow at evalee, taking her hands in his own again. "were you? surprised, i mean? mum did most of the work." his voice clearly held an element of curiosity in it, dropping a little lower at the last. "so i can't take credit for the lovely flower arrangements, unfortunately." he smiled, leaning in and gently pressing his lips to hers in one quick movement. breaking away, scorpius ran a thumb over the top of her hand. "i love you, evalee alexandria nott. there should have never been a doubt in my mind concerning that." despite the theme of the night being their future together, scorpius couldn't help but think about the last time they had been on the balcony together. it had been a beautiful night much like the one they were standing in now, and one of scorpius' best memories. he threatened to bring it up, but instead settled for allowing his gaze to linger for another moment longer. staring at eva had never been a difficult feat for scor -- in fact, he was easily satisfied that he now had an entire lifetime to do nothing but.

* - - - - - - - YOU GAVE ME BUTTERFLIESat the mailbox, you had me at hello there really hadn't been much time in her life where she had been single, now that she looked back on it. it had been the summer before her fourth year that scorpius had become her's. before that was never really a time for dating, not like she didn't though. evalee nott wasn't ugly, to say the least. she knew that she was good looking and used it every day to her advantage. her life hadn't really had any of those 'awkward moments' with those things muggles called braces or having to deal with gawky glasses. beauty had been something she was born with and grew well into. so to say that she wasn't on the eyes and minds of boys her age was lie and she knew it. that is why most of her time hadn't been spent single. boyfriends in your first, second, or even third year never really meant anything. and they didn't for her. the only boyfriend who ever meant anything to her was scorpius.
it was like one of those muggle love stories where the couple are childhood sweethearts. ever since they were in diapers, eva has been best friends with scorpius malfoy. it was a friendship that her parents welcomed very well. knowing them, they probably foresaw the opportunity for their daughter to marry up into one of the most prestigious pureblood families in their community. at the time, she never had. things were so simple then. you had your friends because they were the ones your age at all of the parties and galas, so you automatically bonded. but to parents, they were always opportunities. that was all they saw, in hopes of matching their sons and daughters off into marriage to keep the pureblood society afloat and in perfect tact. it wasn't until years later that eva realized the depth of it all, but she didn't care. the only she ever imagine herself marrying was scorpius. of course, at a small age, her parents had been also hopefully with her friendship with nate carrow. he was a carrow, which was a step up from a malfoy, but that was never anything more than the two of them being best friends. perhaps if she wasn't still with scorpius and didn't have a boyfriend, her parents would have approached amycus carrow about the union, which made eva thankful. nate was her best friend. picturing being married to him was just.. weird. it would be like marrying her older brother.
none of that mattered though at this point. everything about her future had been laid out for her tonight. before she had arrived, nothing was certain. her intentions were to pull scorpius aside to talk with him finally about her feelings. telling him months ago that she didn't love him had single-handedly been her biggest mistake ever. it only took a few months for her to realize that she did still love him. the fact that she hadn't was blamed on the spark just being gone. it took realizing that he could be happy with someone else for her to see that she still loved him and never wanted to see him with anyone else. the only problem eva encountered was that their deal was too good. in public, they were the same flawless couple everyone had always seem them as when in reality they weren't even dating still. behind closed doors, they could be with anyone they wanted. scorpius had chosen lily; evalee had found other suitors in the beginning. when her feelings started crawling back, it was always scorpius' bed she was crawling back into at night. things eventually became like normal again, but it was different. they were still technically single because eva didn't want to say anything and ruin it. in her mind, she knew that scorpius still didn't love her. she was ready to keep living their fake reality than not have him at all. so when she was getting ready in one of their guest rooms, all the words went over one another in her head. but she knew when it came down to it, her mouth would jumble them all and it would all go south. but she knew it had to be done.
one could imagine her surprise at the fact that this engagement party was for herself and scorpius. watching draco step from the crowd to give them a short congratulatory speech (which was a surprise in itself as draco wasn't a man of many words, least of all at a party) and having people toast to their future almost made her tear up then and there. hearing scorpius tell her to go with him as the excitement of the moment died away for everyone else, evalee could only nod and hold on tightly to his hand for fear that if she let go then she would wake up from what she was sure was a dream. it all just couldn't be. she allowed herself to be brought out to one of the few balconies attached to the malfoy manor, her eyes immediately went skyward. if this was a dream, the sky was the same picture she always had in her dreams. it was always exactly how she remembered it the night that scorpius had first kissed her those years ago. no night sky ever looked the same after that until this night. turning from the railing where she had placed both of her hands to lean as she gazed at the sky, her eyes looked immediately to his face where she could see so many childish features in that moment. as her eyes met his, any doubt she ever had that he didn't love her were swept away. the way he was looking at her was the way he used to, the same way she has been searching for for months but thought she never saw. maybe all this time, she had been but chose not to believe that she was because the thought didn't seem possible to her.
"no no," she began, small amounts of color rising in her cheeks. "there's no need to apologize. this is the kind of lying that is okay, because you did it for something special. to do for me." the skepticism in her voice was clear as day, still shocked that he had gone through all of this bother just to make this so special for her. her eyes glanced down at their hands, seeing how perfectly her own could fit within his. eva always said that was one inkling she knew that they were destined. whether their hands or when they hugged or when they cuddled in bed, the two always seemed to have a way of fitting together perfectly. "i actually was. normally, i hate surprises, but you went through so much. i loved it all," she spoke, looking back up at him and meeting his eyes with her own. it was true. surprises weren't really something that she was a fan of, especially if nate was planning them since he usually tended to just do horrid things that mostly ended up bothering her but she supposed that she never minded. even the briefest moments of having his lips pressed against her own made her heart flutter and her stomach drop, just the same as the first time he had ever kissed her. and hearing the words tumble from his lips after only made both of those do the same thing only a million times more intensely. tears were forming in her eyes from the happiness swelling inside her, staring up at the guy who she knew she was going to be spending the rest of her life with. "i love you too, scorpius. i have. i always have," eva said, feeling one of her happiness tears rolling down her cheek. this all felt like such a dream. "will you pinch me? because i feel like i'm dreaming, and i really don't want it to be." a small little laugh escaped her lips as she looked down, shaking her head. "you don't know how long i've been wishing you would say that, how long i wanted to tell you that and have you know that i'm being serious and not just saying it because of the image we have to maintain at school." it was true. it had been a long time and far too long at that. but now, evalee was seeing that she no longer had to do anymore waiting.

evalee nott. words: 1349. credit: me. notes: <3 love them.[/ul]
from day one, scorpius hyperion malfoy was handed everything on a silver platter. no, literally. his life was like a page ripped right out of a fairy tale. he was rich, powerful, and well-known. everyone knew his name from birth, and respect was demanded when a malfoy walked into the room. all of this was his birthright; all it needed was the perfect bride to enjoy it with when it came time for that. draco had been arranged to astoria greengrass when it came time for him to be betrothed; lucius and narcissa had wanted nothing but the best for their only child. following that tradition, draco and astoria had only given birth to one, solitary son: scorpius. scor was intented to follow in that same tradition, though it was generally expected that he would have more than one son. draco knew that much when his only child had demanded siblings early on. but all of that didn't mean much to scorpius. despite knowing that the weight of his family's world rested solely upon his shoulders, scorpius liked to believe that he had a relatively happy childhood. he wasn't troubled with learning the dark arts like the rest of his friends were. sure, draco taught him a few things, but after being pressured into killing albus dumbledore (in which he failed miserably, of course) he had all but quit practicing those sorts of things. scor was anything but bitter about that fact; the longer he could go without learning a killing curse, the better off he was. needless to say, that really wasn't an extended period of time. lucius malfoy was generally the one he got most of his lessons from, and dear lucius really didn't like to keep things on his 'to do' list. if there was something needed to be done, he generally got it done.
but none of that really mattered, compared to one particular person his parents had introduced him to when he was a child. evalee alexandria nott. the sweetest name he had ever heard in his life, and the one person he knew he could spend his life with. it probably didn't help that astoria had already begun naming her son's children for him, one of which included evalee's middle name. his father had even tossed in a few suggestions, which had all but blown scor's mind. his father never did stuff like that, and they certainly didn't talk about his future children together. but once evalee was in the picture, his parents were clearly ecstatic. she met all of their requirements, and the best part about it? their son was happy. actually happy. they hadn't breathed a word of it, but scor knew even then that they were planning something for the happy couple. something that all pureblooded witches and wizards had to face before graduation, or shortly thereafter. but scorpius had never really been afraid of his future, nor the betrothal that he would eventually be forced into. that's why young men like himself were generally made to pick out rings before it ever came time to be married. scorpius' parents were far more understanding than his grandparents were, so when it came time for him to pick out his engagement rings, he simply negotiated something different with draco. once he was old enough to actually care about such matters, he would choose. and considering that he was already on the right path by dating evalee, his parents felt no reason to decline his offer. they hadn't really declined any of his wishes, though that hardly had anything to do with being their only child. draco was perfectly capable of telling someone 'no', now that the dark lord was gone. before that, lucius had confessed that his son often had trouble with declining such things. but really, scorpius couldn't blame his father for that. anyone would have done the same, had they been standing in the same room as the darkest wizard of all time. scorpius honestly couldn't think lowly of his father for being afraid of such a man -- if you could even call that thing a man.
but all that was beside the point. draco and astoria malfoy were entirely proud of their son, and scorpius could only feel thankful that he had met eva to begin with. as gorgeous as she was, she had equal opportunity to be with any other man she desired, though she would probably say the same in his case. not that he was being narcissistic, but it was the truth. he was scorpius malfoy, and he could technically have anyone he wanted. but the only woman he would ever want was standing a few feet away from him, and by her acceptance tonight, she would be the only woman that he would spend his life with. evalee alexandria malfoy. merlin, that sounded amazing. evalee malfoy. evalee and scorpius malfoy. scor had been planning this moment for months now, despite what he had let her believe. and although he felt absolutely terrible for letting her go on believing that he didn't love her, everything had been cleared up tonight. scorpius ran a thumb over her hand as he took hers in his own, offering a rare, kind smile as she told him that his apology wasn't necessary. "you went through quite a bit as well. i shouldn't have kept you in the dark as long as i did. i should have told you the moment that i knew....the moment that i knew that it wouldn't be anyone else but you. not for the rest of my life." scorpius exhaled silently, the heat rising slightly in his cheeks. scor wasn't one for blushing, but eva made him feel loads of things that he never felt with anyone else, so he couldn't be surprised that he was blushing now. he quickly reached his hand up to wipe the falling tear from her cheek, tilting his head as he took in the words that made his heartbeat accelerate every time he heard them. scorpius released a soft laugh, smiling slightly. "you really want me to pinch you? you might need to do the same for me." scorpius swallowed hard as he listened to eva, his heart in agreement with every word she said. "well, let me say a few things while we're off the record, here." he smiled again, taking her hand in his again and intertwining her fingers with his own. "i've been unable to sleep for months now while i was planning all this. not because i was busy, but because i've been so afraid that you would say no. afraid that because i've lied to you for all this time, you'd find someone better to spend your life with." he swallowed again, but glanced back up at her as he continued. "there's no one in this world that can make me laugh the way you do. that can shoot me a single glance and make a bad day alright again. there's no one that can take me by the hand and make me feel as though everything in my life has a purpose. you are that purpose, evalee, and you're the only one that i could have ever spent tonight with. the only one that i would have ever done any of this for. you're worth far more than i can ever give you, but i'll spend the rest of my life trying." scorpius raised her hand to his lips, his eyes glancing briefly at the diamond ring on her finger.

* - - - - - - - YOU GAVE ME BUTTERFLIESat the mailbox, you had me at hello it was so absurd, thinking that at nearly almost seventeen, her life and future partner was already set for her. her fiance was already picked out, the ring had already been given. there was even a party held in their honor to show off to their elite community their coming nuptials. her seventeen birthday hadn't even come around yet. it was crazy to think that she would barely be past the age of eighteen when she would be married. normally, older generations would find that very absurd and think that they were rushing. marriage was meant for only when you were ready, typically after several years of dating and knowing each other. teenage love and marriage usually never went hand in hand. normally there were things like pregnancies or children involved for rushed shotgun typed marriages. otherwise, they were just plain crazy and didn't have a single brain cell of common sense. that was at least what everyone would think if two teenagers fresh out of school got married. but that was what was different about them.
the pureblood community was constantly pairing up their offspring with each other to keep the lineage of purity going. most couples knew each other, but didn't love each other. they didn't already have a couple years of dating underneath their belts. they didn't have love on their side. what their marriage would grow into most times could be construed as love; other times, people actually did fall in love. they found that the person they were with wasn't too shabby and ensued the dating process during their actual engagement. none of that qualified for scorpius malfoy and evalee nott. they had known each other their entire lives and grew up with one another in close relation. they were best friends and had been since diapers. when they started dating in between their third or fourth years, things only seemed to fall into place. two years later, they were in love. being sixteen and in love was hard enough. it was harder to realize that you didn't love each other the same anymore. but they had thought that was what they felt, so it was what they came to accept. evalee discovered that that wasn't even true. at sixteen, she knew she loved scorpius. he was the only one who mattered to her. she was only glad now that she had him. to think of her parents trying to set her up in a marriage with someone else would have shattered her whole being, but her parents were smart. they knew what she wanted before she even did.
what she wanted was scorpius. it always had been. he was all she had known before the start of this last school year. when they came back for their sixth year, everyone thought things were the same between them. they thought they were still the same old power couple. the train ride to hogwarts had shown that with evalee laying with her head in scor's lap as he played with her hair and they bossed their minions around and spoke about their amazing summers. once school was in session, the same ensued. kisses in corridors, holding hands, eating breakfast together, the appearance of them sneaking away together. but they weren't. they would sneak off and break into two paths. scorpius would go one way, eva would go the other. he went to whomever he wanted, his choice piece being lily potter. at the time, evalee didn't care and supported him. he was her best friend still. it didn't matter that she (thought she) didn't love him anymore. he had been her best friend first and always would be. eva would go and find herself in the company of several different boys, always in private. that was the only way things like this could be arranged. at first, it was conner stretton. the durmstrang boy had something about him. all he would keep doing was bothering her to bits. it didn't take long for him to get under her skin and into her pants. at the time, she really didn't mind. sex was a glorious thing. she went on to have it with tristan baddock and alecksander andanov. alec had been a one night thing when she had gone out in experimentation with molly. molly changed her hair to black and picked up the name 'meredith'. eva had donned some blonde hair and went out with 'jasmine'. when she came across alec, they fell into the same heated room. to this day she was still pretty sure that he didn't know it had been her.
tristan was a different story. he had been her steady once she finally got around to actually knowing him at the end of september. at first, it was all about the great sex not to mention he was good company. the guy was nice and he was a looker. it was only a plus that he was a pureblood as well. overall, it wasn't the package that she was really looking for. she wasn't looking for anything really. just some attention and sex was fine with her. technically, it was her time to enjoy as being a single girl. tristan's bed was a place she really enjoyed spending that time. after a month though, things were harder for her. time spent away from scorpius was harder for her to enjoy, and time with him was easier. a time or two, they had even found themselves back in each other's arms again. she found herself being jealous of him having to leave to go see lily or whoever he was going to see. her faked jealousy at girls openly trying to mess with him when she was around wasn't fake anymore. the kisses were all real to her. it was horribly confused, so she found herself trying to cast it all off when she was with tristan. he didn't help though. eventually, she found it hard to be with tristan when the only person she wanted to be with was scorpius. things had to be broken off and they were by the middle of november. the next month's time was spent trying to confront her feelings and tell them to scor. every time, she flaked out and resumed her guilty comfort in actually enjoying every moment with him. it was all real to her, and it was her belief that it was all fake to him. what she had thought was that it wasn't fair to her or him. her plan had been to confront him tonight. but then, things changed.
when that ring was put on her finger and she saw his face, eva knew that didn't have to have that talk with him. it was crazy for her mind to believe that he was actually choosing her again, that they were coming back together with the same feelings, but they were. the ring on her finger that she knew was his great-grandmother's because she had been eying it for over a year told her everything she needed to know. his parents weren't forcing him to do this. he was doing it because he wanted to. looking from the ring that was setting her future in stone up to scorpius' face as he spoke, evalee couldn't help but let a few more tears of joy fall down her face. it had to be on the few times she wept from pure happiness. "for you... for this, i don't mind at all," was all she could manage to get out. what other pureblood girl out there could say that they had an engagement party like this? most other girls she knew that were getting paired up didn't have any choice in the matter. the one that had chosen her was the one that she actually loved. hearing the words spilling from his mouth, eva felt her heart melted more and more. if he spoke anymore, it would burst into a million pieces. reaching up, she cupped his face with her hands and stared at him. the tears rolled from her face now, her lips threatening to let out the sobs. she had never sobbed from happiness before. she had never felt like her heart was going to jump out of her chest. she never felt like all the air had escaped her because someone had taken her breath away with their words. but scorpius had caused all of those things. that was how she knew for certain that she loved him and would for the rest of her life. "i love you. i've always loved you, and only you. i was so scared coming here because i thought that you didn't love me back. i thought i had been the foolish one who had fallen back in love and it was too late. every morning, i would wake up from dreams filled with you. you were always the first person that i looked for when i entered a room. it was only your hand that fit mine. you're the only person i have and will ever love. and i can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you." the tears were steady now, looking up at him. surely in a few minutes when the shock resided and she realized how horrible her make-up looked, eva would regret all the crying, but she wouldn't exchange this moment for any other in the world. leaning up, eva pressed her lips against his. his lips would be the only other ones she would kiss and no part of that bothered her at all.
