* - - - - - - - THIS TIME WE'RE NOT GIVING UPlet's make this last forever, screaming hallelujah stupid bloody professor. a grumble escaped from her lips as she looked down at the essay she was supposed to write instead of attending a detention. three feet of parchment on early american witches. of course it had to be the history of magic teacher that caught her tormenting a third year girl. well, he called it tormenting. evalee nott called it recruiting. the girl needed a good sense of direction with her life that evalee was content to provide. the last thing the girl needed was a false sense of leadership, like from that annoyance she called arietta urquhart. what the professor said she was doing was badgering and peer pressure, which wasn't tolerated in the castle. it didn't matter how much she huffed and puffed about it, it was one battle she couldn't talk her way out of. that was something that bothered her even more than having to write some stupid essay. and the past two hours hauled up in her room at her desk amounted to nothing but a couple starter sentences.
another sigh escaped from her lips as she retired her quill to the desk and got up from it. there really was no point. the fact that she even was trying said something, mostly that she was bored. perhaps she would get a fifth year slackie to do it for her later or if anything convince scorpius to help her. well, that hardly needed any convincing. he would do anything for her, least of all write some lousy paper, but she would find more entertainment in making a lower year follower do it for her. it wasn't like she kept them around for entirely no purpose. they had purposes whenever she deemed them worthy of one. tonight would probably be one of those nights. her mind jumbled through the vague faces she knew that took to following scorpius and herself around as if they were their friends. as if. only a few chosen people had the real right to call themselves eva's close friends. they included scorpius, nathaniel carrow, and emeline bletchley. there was even adriana macdougal, former slytherin queen and now international supermodel. the girl was more of a role model and idol for eva, but still considered as a good friend. but so it was true that she didn't have many close friends. that didn't matter to eva. the close friends that she had were enough for her, and the ones who were less than acquaintances or those who followed her around in hoped of being in the 'in crowd' made up for space. if she ever needed someone, she has those to turn to.
there was always one person that she turned to first, who completed her. scorpius malfoy was a dream come true for her, to say the least. having been best friends since they were in diapers, it only made sense that their friendship grew into them being best friends and eventually falling for one another. the details of what had entailed in the past few months or rather since summer were ones eva really didn't want to dwell on. the past was the past and all that mattered to her now was her present and future. scorpius was both of those. standing in front of her vanity mirror, her mismatched colored eyes dropped to the engagement ring glinting on her finger. sure, perhaps seventeen was young to be engaged, but that didn't matter to her. there had only been one person she loved in her life and that was scorpius. it has never been anyone else and she never wanted it to be. she knew that of all people, she was meant for him and he was meant for her. the fact that they were pureblood only pushed up the age at which they got engaged. evalee knew that if it hadn't been now, it would have been eventually. but she enjoyed reveling in the fact that soon after she graduated, she would be mrs. evalee malfoy.
admiring herself in her mirror once more, eva grabbed the nearest shirt in her armoire and tugged it on. it happened to be just a plain white one that was actually scorpius' and clashed with the bright emerald green undergarment she had on, but shrugged it off. it was a saturday so the dress code was hardly enforced and it wasn't like she was creating a fashion disaster. it was rather cute in a laidback way, plus it smelled of scor so there was no way she would take it off now. leaving the top few buttons undone and slipping into a skinny pair of jeans, eva gathered her hair into a messy side ponytail and headed down the stairs to the common room after a good choice in leisurely flats for her feet. seeing as she couldn't concentrate any on her essay and more on the stack of letters and packages from astoria about the wedding arrangements (despite it being well over a year away), there was a desire that eva had to get some fresh air. or company. the weather was finally started to warm up, so she doubted many would actually be cooped up in the castle. leaving the dungeons, her feet carried her off towards the stairs only to wander aimlessly around the castle for a good thirty minutes or so before she came upon a sight on the fourth floor. her eyebrows raised in slight surprise when she came upon the community common room only to see a familiar face sitting on one of the couches, all by his lonesome. that was rather odd to find him alone, but the smile that came upon her face told that she preferred it that way. it was difficult to deal with him when other females were around, and by the looks of it there wasn't a single other person occupying the room aside from him. probably due to nice weather, and eva was suddenly grateful that her friend was a nerdy ravenclaw who actually stayed in to do things like homework or read books or just not be outside.
eva had a slight hop in her step as she crossed the commons. while she was only a sixth year and still had another year left, her friend did not. and so it would be times like this one that she was about to enjoy that she would deeply miss. draping herself across the couch with her head in his lap, eva looked up into the face of nathaniel carrow. "arty, where have you been hiding? in another girls' bedrooms again? i feel like i haven't seen you at all lately," she spoke with a big smile on her lips. arty was the nickname that only she was allowed to use for him and for good reason. acrturus was such a pain in the ass kind of name and anything close to it made her dear best friend upset, hence why she called him arty. what kind of friend would she be if she didn't tease him, especially since in a few months he would graduate and she wouldn't see him for almost a year? "actually, i'm lying. didn't we have breakfast this morning together?" a quizzical look was on her face for a moment as she tried to remember. had she been at breakfast? now that she thought about it though, eva hadn't because she had been too tired and too comfortable in scorpius' arms and in his bed to move. now that she really thought about it, when had been the last time she had seen nate been? things had been so busy and scorpius-love-filled that she has lost sense of keeping in touch with her best friend. and this thought made her pout. "i've been neglecting arty and eva time, haven't i?" part of her felt very horrible, but she wasn't one for the past. at least she was here now and knew nate would enjoy and be annoyed with her presence. it was the amazing thing about their best friendship. they both always seemed annoyed with each other most of the time, but wouldn't trade a minute of it. or at least, that was how eva felt. as annoying as he could be, nathaniel carrow was her big brother and best friend. and wouldn't have it or him any other way. evalee nott word count ♦ 1578 thread setting ♦ community common room listening too ♦ nothing atm notes ♦ yay first nate post! credit ♦ all too moi![/ul] to the pureblood world, Acrturus Nathaniel Carrow was what would be considered the perfect pureblood son. when in the midst of adults he didn't speak unless spoken too. he didn't interrupt his father's rants, no matter how much they bored him. he always appeared perfect and never did anything to disturb that image. his father expected perfection from him and until a certain blond walked into his life, Nate gave his father what he wanted. in all sense he had been the perfect pureblood son until recently. he only dated the top of the top pureblood girls. girls who would make perfect eye candy and when it came down to it gorgeous grand children for his parents. not that he ever technically dated unless of course he counted his colossal mistake with the Davie's girl. Nate only mingled with those that he considered the best, those that his father would approve of. he was only friends with those that he could actually consider is equal. like leelee, or Evalee Nott to everyone else, and Emeline Bletchley, two girls that could do no wrong in the eyes of his parents. then there was Conner Stretton who had been his best friend since they were kids. though there was no one that he was closer with then his twin brother, except LeeLee who was like a sister to him. Lucian and Nate weren't identical twins but they definitely had that whole twin telepathy thing going on and they were the best of friends straight out of the womb. they would do anything for one another and there wasn't a secret that they kept from one another. that was until recently, when Nate started keeping one very large secret from his brother. it wasn't just from his brother though, it was from everyone in his life and honestly, it was starting to drive him insane. the secret he was keeping though, even from those that he cared deeply about, wasn't one that he could share. not without judgment, which was something he couldn't take from any of them. from his father he could handle, but from those that he actually considered friends it would be his undoing. besides, it was a massive secret that he even knew more about his secret then he had let known to the other person involved.
when one grew up in the lavish lifestyle that Nate had, it was hard not to grow accustom to certain things. like getting his own way, or having a high tolerance level for alcohol beverages. the parents naturally only served the finest champagne at the gala's but what went on when they weren't looking was a different story. besides, most of the children were drinking themselves silly on the champagne to get out of the ordeal of spending their evening cooped up inside with their parents and other parents like them. if it wasn't the gala's they were being dragged too then the children were usually having parties of their own. pureblood children generally stuck together, it was just the way how things worked out. so it would really come as no surprise that when New Year's Eve rolled around, Nate was always found at the hottest parties. this sometimes put him in the presences of people that he couldn't stand, or wanted and just couldn't have. the object of his turmoil for the past seven years had been Molly Weasley. she was everything Nate would ever want in a girl except for one rather large thing, she was a Weasley. she didn't look like one mind you nor did she carry herself like one, but that didn't change the fact that she was a Weasley. his father would kill him simply for associating with her, let alone if he found out what he had done with her. they had been at the same New Year's party this coming year and putting them in the same room with alcohol was just asking for trouble. it was easy for both of them to blame it on the alcohol but Nate had known exactly what he was doing. he barely had more then two drinks in his system, but with the sexual tension that was between them there was nothing stopping him once he got the fact that he wanted her in his head. it didn't take long for them to find an empty room and it took even less time for their clothes to be removed. however, it took all night for Nate to feel as though he had finally gotten enough of her, only to awake and discover he hadn't. he had figured that getting what he wanted from her would finally curb his craving but it only seemed to make it worse.
now whenever he saw her all he could think about was what laid beneath her clothes. how gorgeous she really was. she was a distraction at the best of times and it was truly driving him insane. it really was going to be the death of him. Nate had always been a straight outstanding student but any classes that he had with Molly, all of his concentration seemed to fly out the window. he would find himself asking the Professor for notes on the lesson and that just wasn't him. Professor's usually called on him for the answers because he had them without a doubt but with Molly around the only thing he could think about was her. which was exactly how he wound up in the Community Common Room, instead of outside enjoying the nice weather they were finally getting. he had an assignment due that he had to get done and the Community Common Room was the only place he could go without any disruptions. especially since his 'girlfriend' was in the same house as him and he liked to avoid the Ravenclaw Common Room as much as possible unless he had to make an appearance with her. shuddering as his thoughts crossed the girl his parents or rather father wanted him to marry Nate ran his hand through his hair and looked down at the book in his hands. History of Magic, what was usually his best subject was something he couldn't seem to focus on. shaking his head he rested back against the chair and looked up at the ceiling, this was truly hopeless. if his grades started slipping then his father was going to start asking questions and as good of a liar that Nate was, he knew there wasn't one big enough to help him. though he hadn't heard LeeLee enter the room, he knew she was there before she had even sat on the count let alone placed her head in his lap. a smile lifted at the corner of his lips, a rare occurrence unless he was around her or his brother. looking down at the girl who he considered his sister he raised his eyebrow as though he was asking her if she was comfortable but the smile was still on his lips. "that would be because you haven't seen me very much LeeLee." he countered, winking at her. "naturally you'd assume i was in another girl's bedrooms but i'll have you know you've simply been overly busy planning your glorious wedding to Mr Malfoy to find time for your dear best friend." teasing her as he picked up her hand with the engagement ring on it. he was truly happy for her, knowing how she felt about Scorpius and all.
"one would wonder how you manage to lift your hand with this thing on it." laughing softly as he set her hand down. "if you had breakfast with someone this morning it definitely was not me. i don't think there is anyone here that looks like me either, so i think all this planning has made you disillusion." it was nice to have his best friend in his presences, she always had a way of taking his mind off things. even Molly Weasley. they had been best friends since as far back as he could remember, and she was very much like the little sister he never got. she was one person he would do anything for, set aside anything for, without a second thought. "yes, you have. and i must admit, i've been holding auditions for my new best friend since my current one can hardly spare me a moment. you are however, an extremely hard girl to replace." grinning how since they both knew he'd never find anyone quite like her. "the fault however, isn't exactly to be put all on you. i've been boggled down with my studies, being final year and all." it was the best lie he could come up with, though he was inwardly cringing since he hated lying to Eva. "but you are here now, and my studies i suppose will have to wait. so tell me, how is this marvelous wedding of yours going? will the colors of the dress match my skin tone?" Nate joked, welcoming the distraction that LeeLee presented. he definitely needed one right about now. [/blockquote]

* - - - - - - - THIS TIME WE'RE NOT GIVING UPlet's make this last forever, screaming hallelujah so many people have fallen for their best friends over the years. it was not a concept that was strange to society really. songs, stories, poems had all been written to describe it. evalee nott had the benefit of being in that exact position. the person that she had fallen for, the one who held her heart, was in fact her best friend. he always had been. since they were in diapers, it had always been scorpius malfoy that she had been closest to. it was his ears that heard all her secrets, his shoulder that comforted the tears falling from her eyes, his lips and hands that were exact matches for her own. what more could she ask for in a boyfriend? or even in a fiance? it was so strange to really think of it that way, but that was what he was. as of holiday break, scorpius malfoy was her husband-to-be. that moment was one of the most precious ones in her entire life, and eva would never trade it or him for anything in the world. things were finally in their place with her best friend.
but scor wasn't her only best friend. normally, a person had one best friend out there. evalee was lucky to have two extremely amazing and handsome guys as her best friends. girls were always hard to get along with for her, being accounted towards the fact that eva was kind of a bitch and other girls either didn't like those kind of girls or were those kinds of girls which meant major friction. boys were just easier to get along with when she was growing up. aside from scorpius, there had always been acrturus carrow. no one called him that though. it was always nate to everyone else, except maybe perhaps her. even though he was a year older than her, he was the only other person that she had been extremely close to in her childhood and growing up. she was possibly the only person who could get away with calling him 'arty' and the same would go for him calling her 'leelee'. it was a completely platonic love between them and had never been anything more than that. he was like the older brother that she never actually had in her life. for her, she was always the older sibling. but nate made her feel like she had someone to look up to, which she did. since they were little, he had been there for her just like an older brother and eva would never trade that for anything.
thinking back on the fact that she really hadn't seen him a lot lately made her a little sad. of course she knew that her life had becoming almost instantly-scorpius revolved ever since their engagement party, but she had never really reflected on it too much. it wasn't like she had very many close friends that she went out of her way to really hang out with. there was only scorpius and nate, and since the holiday break had ended, eva actually found herself having a girl friend in emeline bletchley whom she used to despise to all eternity. it was very easy for her to forget that her entire world was not yet just scorpius, especially since nate would be leaving in a few months. the more she thought about this, the more the frown on her face became prominent. ever since she was little, nate was like her other other half and her big brother. the fact that she had been neglecting him made her feel like a very bad little sister. he had always been there for her no matter what, but now that her life was going good, she neglected him. it was horrible. looking up at him and his smile that she knew only she could pull from him, her lower lip jutted out in more of a pout. "arty, i'm so sorry. i'm a horrible little sister," she said, reaching up to poke him in the nose with her index finger. a small giggle escaped her lips which quickly formed into a smile.
the way that their relationship was could be called close, but that was really an understatement. nate was probably one of the few who had seen her in her underwear without her having slept with him. it was his opinion that she valued almost over everyone else's. that was one of the reasons that she always dragged him shopping with her. whatever she tried on, he gave his honest opinion no matter if she loved it and he hated it. that was one of the great things about him. they could get along so greatly and wouldn't be offended by their opinions no matter how harsh they might be. a lot of people used to mistake their closeness as they seeing each other. that always knew how to bring a laugh out of her. really, eva could understand where people could misinterpret things. she recalled one time where a very jealous girl a year younger than her thought she was going behind scorpius' back and seeing nate. whether she was after nate or scor, eva really didn't have the time to go through the efforts to find out nor did she care. the scene the girl created right in the slytherin room, in front of scorpius and herself and several of their followers, was ridiculous and only brought a smirk from her lips. when the girl wouldn't let it go, it only started to make evalee come into a bad mood and eventually because the girl got in her face and kept poking her chest with her index finger, eva eventually took her finger and broke it backwards. needless to say, she had detention for the next three months, but it was worth it. the girl never got in her face again and seemingly drifted out of the inner circle of scor and herself's kingdom.
her eyes flashed to her hand as nate lifted it up, admiring her ring. he was doing the action that she repeatedly did throughout the day. it was odd for a now seventeen year old to be engaged, but she didn't. who she loved loved her back, and that was all that they needed. pureblood families always had a way of doing things differently. they set their children up in marriages, programmed for amazing offspring. occasionally, there was a rare instance where the couple actually got along. and then there was a story like eva and scorpius' where they had already been dating, already loved each other, already wanted to spend their lives with each other. it was just that their parents were giving them a jump start to starting their lives together once they graduated next year. she said, smiling up at nate. "it was his great-grandmother's, a family heirloom. i was shocked that his mother gave it to me, but i'm so glad. it's stunning." turning her hand so that it sparkled in the sun, the smile became more genuine on her face. then her attention turned back to friend. "i would almost die if i found out that you had a doppelganger, but alas, now that i think about it, i actually wasn't at breakfast. i was in bed, not having breakfast." the sly look on her face clearly gave away that what she had been doing was a little less than innocent. smirking up at him, her hand reached up to pinch his cheek in a way that she knew would annoy him but he wouldn't dare get angry with her because she was, well, eva. she was his best friend and could get away with anything when it came to nate. they would always find a way to move on about it if things even got drastically horrible between them, which it hadn't in the many years they had been friends. "auditions?" she said with a laugh, "like you think you would ever find anyone close to replace me with. i'm irreplaceable, arty. you know that." of course she felt it would be too soft of her to vice versa her statement in the fact that he too was not replaceable to her at all. there was scorpius, but he held a different edge. he was her boyfriend. nate was her older brother, her very best friend. nothing and no one could ever replace that or even come close to. "yes yes, you put those studies on hold. this is my whole master plan, you see. i will for now on be around you as much as possible, making it impossible for you to study. and therefore, you fail your seventh year and have to repeat it again. with me! see. rather evil but ingenious is it not?" eva said with a giggle as she cast a quick glance at his books. talk of her impending wedding though caught her attention once again, as it always seemed to do. her grades even found slight lacking ever since her return from holiday break, but her piles of fabric samples and invitation samples and books upon books of wedding and bridesmaid dresses were probably the blame of that. "perhaps it might. i haven't decided if i want to go with an ivory dress or a perfect white one. i've even considered black, but i think astoria might strangle me if i went that far," she said chuckling, "but i think i have the bridesmaid dresses picked out. and i'm absolutely sure you'll look fabulous in it." a wink was cast at him and then her eyes drifted around to add more illusion. the thought had crossed her mind of having nate stand on her side, like a maid of honor. it wasn't like she had any other close girlfriends. this thought had crossed her mind several times, to which her response was to attempt to make more decent and likeable girlfriends before graduating next year. that task however was already proving to be far easier said than actually done.[/blockquote] TAGGED: acrturus carrow.
