It's been seven hours long....and your shadow still hangs on ~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~
The fact she could have control wasn't lost on her it was just the fact that she strived for a control on her temper took up a large part of it. Still when it came down to it she could discipline her mind when need be and had. If she was having a bad day she simply couldn't focus. Aniela had decided that a quiet day by the black lake was a neccessity seeing as she was barefoot because some second year girl thought it'd be fun to steal her shoes. Again. Typical. Every young Ravenclaw just wanted to make her life ruddy miserable. Normally, Anie didn't let these things get to her, but not even the bright and cloudless sky could do good for the foul tempered mood she was in currently. She chewed on the edge of one of her polished finger-nails. An assortment of colours. Mostly purple, orange, and green. Now, everyone knew that those colors didn't match. Hell, even Aniela was well aware of that, but she didn't care.
She was Aniela Dahlman. She was who she was. She twirled a dandelion in her slender fingertips a moment. Sure, it was a weed, but Aniela felt that to a certain extent even weeds were flowers. Who was to judge them by a foul-sounding name like a weed. The blades of grass tickled her ankles and she shifted her position aganist the oak tree she was sitting under. People-watching. Saturdays were always great days for her favorite hobby. Out of the corner of her eye she saw a bloke approaching her direction. A pair of twins, wearing identical robes, walked passed her and she heard them snicker and make a comment as one of them eyed her. Seven years at this Hogwarts school. Aniela knew that she wasn't well-liked, but if she could hex everyone to prove that she was someone to be feared....just for once...oh, how she wished that she could.
That wasn't in her nature to do so though. She closed her eyes a moment and exhaled. Tossing the dandelion in no particular direction. Anie could care less where it fell to. After-all. It was a weed. No one liked weeds. Most thought them to be undesirable and ugly. She bit her lip. Why was she beginning to feel like she and that weed she'd just discarded had something in common with one another? This was just her insecurity yet again getting the better of her. She should be thinking good thoughts about herself. People don't understand how special you are and the great things that you have to offer the world, Anie, dear. her mum's words echoed in her head.
She slammed her eyes shut. The bark of the tree rubbing up aganist her back. It wasn't the most comfortable of feelings. She didn't like it. Not one bit. No, she did not. Aniela was beginning to regret the fact that for once she had left her multi-colored and bead-threaded satchel upstairs in her dorm. When she needed a book it was never in the apporiate place that it needed to be at the time. Perhaps, sicne she had none of her leisure books to read and no immedate homework to complete. Perhaps, she'd just take a nap right under the canopy of leaves that this giant tree provided.
That seemed like a splendid idea and Anie relished in the thought for a few moments. She was just about to let sleep over-come her when lo and behold that figure she'd seen early stopped right in front of her. Dark hair, tall and lanky, him. This day just had to get worse didn't it? Just when she thought that she found a way to spend a relaxing Saturday. That wasn't going to happen now.
Columbus Thruston.
Oh, merlin. Get out of the way! Let me sleep....let me have a peaceful Saturday. You know, you are the destoryer of my solitude. You make the sun want to hide behind dark and angry clouds..... her thoughts screamed, but she didn't say those things to him? Why. That would be very rude.
Though, of course, Anie was fully aware that she had to say something to him. If she didn't, she'd have to listen to him, go on and on about something or other. What snide remark would he make today? Would he comment on her lack of fashion sense. The fact that he saw a second year running around with her ridiculous ballerina flats? He always had something to say. She might as well just let him say whatever the hell he wanted and then ignore him, but this rivalry ...hatred...whatever you wanted to refer to it as that Aniela Dahlman and Columbus Thruston had going on. Well, that fire of loathing had been burning way too long.
Old habits die hard. Cliche, but in this care so very, very true.
Anie tilted her head to the side and a mischievious little grin touched her lips as she did. "Thruston, did you get rejected by yet another girl?"her tone acrid. Honestly, now Thruston, you should just come out of the cloest. The ladies will understand. ." a self-satisfying grin made its way onto her face. Normally, she wasn't this mean. She hated hurting other people's feelings, but in a way, she felt that he deserved it. This tug-of-war game they played had been going on since around first or second year. She couldn't remember exactly how long it had been only that they were both skilled at harsh comments made towards the other. You don't know how to tell the world? Yes, that was my feeling as well......" she said and wrinkled her nose. Her mind reeling with the next thing that she'd say to him or her next come back for whatever he came at her with. She couldn't hide the amusement in her tone even if she had wanted too.

saturday morning rain was falling down slowly. the sound of the rain echoed through his dorm. sighing, he stood up and made his bed quietly while the others are still asleep. it mind sound stupid, but he couldn't really sleep through echoes or anything like that. it's just the way he is. walking towards the shower, he noticed that most first years are up and playing around the common room. it was rather odd because last saturday's they slept it, he didn't mind it that much but he liked it better when it was quiet.
it didn't take him that long to take a shower, probably like five or ten minutes? stepping out of the shower, he grabbed his clothes and put them on before rushing out of the common room wearing a shirt, hoodie, and jeans. as he walked, he made sure that the letter that he received earlier was still in his pocket and was safe there. the air felt cold, but of course it was, it just rained. that didn't matter to columbus, it certainly didn't. he almost drowned in his thoughts, and the letter he received? it made everything much more tense and horrifying for him. but he can't run away from her forever, can he? no. obviously not. no one can run away from anyone as long as possible - unless you're killed, but columbus didn't want to get killed or anything like that just to forget about skylar. he did a great job forgetting about her existing in the past months, hell, why did she have to write to him now?
shortly after the rain stopped he departed and headed to the lake. he had his hood up just in case anyone he knew see him. he took sat down under the willow tree and opened the envelope to read the letter again.
COLUMBUS,
It's Skylar. Your ex girlfriend, just in case you don't remember. Er, what do you think of meeting up? Sounds great, doesn't it! I hope to see you soon. This isn't a question, by the way. Write back, kisses!
~ Skylar
sure, the letter was rather short but he, columbus frederick thruston, was afraid. afraid of the consequences and getting his heart broken again. it had been a few years, yes, but he wasn't willing to risk it. most people think that he already moved on, but the truth is, he didn't. not many people knew about it and he was thankful for that. it's not like it's any of their business anyway, but not much can keep a secret around and word got out easily. but he was lucky, he was lucky that not one of his friends told anyone about his 'skylar-i-haven't-got-over-you-yet', though, a lot of people did know that he was a wreck when she broke up with him.
yet it had to be brought up again, "fuck you skylar . . ." he muttered under his breath, stepping on a branch which made a loud crack. cursing under his breath, he spotted a brunette who's hair is tied in a ponytail. "dahlman." he simply stated without second guessing, he knew people's faces and doesn't forget them easily. he does not have short term memory loss or whatever it's called. columbus and aniela were what you call, rivals? yeah. whatever you'd like to call it. they were meant to hate each other, become mortal enemies like those movies. but life's not like the movies, that seems cheesy and everything but hey, it's true. he knew once she saw him she'd make a rude remark and he'd do the same. but definitely not today, he was not up for it.
columbus walked towards the lake and felt the air go through his body. turning around, he raised an eyebrow as the girl spoke. it didn't feel anything to him, he did not feel hurt or sad or anything like that as she made some comment about him. her lips were talking, but nothing seem to come out of her mouth. sighing, he looked at the girl and gave her a sad smile, "for your information, dahlman. i never asked anyone out, why the sudden interest?" he replied, pausing. it confused him why people thought that columbus asked someone out. why the merlin would they think that? just because he talks to them doesn't mean he's going to ask them out. the last person he asked out was when one of his friend's set him out on a blind date, so naturally, he asked her out, she said yes, turns out she was a bitch and he didn't want to fall in love with her like he did with skylar because he was sure that it would happen again. shaking his head, he looked down on his foot and up on her, continuing what he had said earlier, "stop being a twat. i'm not in the mood for it." he simply said before turning his back on her. why the devil is she so annoying? he couldn't help but think about it. maybe aniela was born that way, she was naturally annoying. but there must be a story behind it. a tale behind it all. he was going to find out whether she likes it or not. two can play at this game. word count: 938 tagged: aniela notes: we so excited. Anie's expression fell. She didn't like when people called her a twat. It was the same feeling she got whenever someone referred to her as bonkers that feeling of being an outsider, different, un-liked. She didn't care if people liked her or not, but there were times when Aniela Dahlman felt very much alone. Sure, she had her brother, Connor, but sometimes, it seemed that even he didn't understand her. Aniela glanced up at Columbus and then gave him a small apologetic smile. " I'm sorry, I'll stop. I'm not having a very good day either and it was wrong of me to take it out on you....quot;her airy and in a very day-dream like state as though she was walking on air. She plucked another dandelion from the grass and ripped off the stem. Lost in a world of her own. Go ahead, it's your turn......" Anieila was just waiting for him to retort with something. She probably deserved it for the way that she had taken out her bad mood upon him. Her thoughts drifted to how she was going to get her ballerina flats back. Pity. Those were her favorite ones too. Running a hand absent-mindedly through her dark brown hair.
The lake was looking particularally murky today, or so that is what the Dahlman girl thought. Then again when did Aniela not think. She even took the time to contemplate this. The world just seemed too complex to not mull over. "So....?" she glanced up at him after a moment. Swallowing, the lump that had formed in her throat. She wouldn't ever admit this, but she did and had for some time (like since around fourth year) found Thruston to be very attractive. Even though, he knew how to push her buttons and unnerve her moreso than anyone who teased or mocked her or calling her odd, strange, or a freak on a regular basis. Aniela didn't know what it was about him that made her see him in this light. Could it be that mess of dark hair of his, or those eyes that seem to gleam in the sunshine. It was something though. She sometimes thought that maybe they weren't as different from one another as they assumed.
Maybe if they took the time to really get to know the other.... what was she thinking? He's not so bad all the time....sure....we don't see eye to eye like ever but .... she paused. WHAT no, no, no....arch enemy! ARCH ENEMY.....dispesed you since first year ...stop these foolish thoughts of yours, Anie. Aniela scolded herself.
Lost in a world of her own again.
"Let me guess Bradley again?" She gave him a concerned look. "If you'd like my advice. You're a good bloke and I think that you deserve better than her. Seeing as she's obviously a bitch...." her voice trailed off. Skylar Bradley loved to torment her and she had since they were eleven. She was the one who tripped her down a set of moving stairs in second year. The one who spilled pumpkin juice all over the front of her robes at lunch in fifth year after she called her a freak who wouldn't amount to anything. Freak-show, spaz, you name it and Skylar Bradley had probably said it right to her face. Skylar enjoyed tormenting her.
Sadly, Anie was used to it. She didn't know why Skylar liked to speifically target her on a regular basis; only that she did it and that Aniela didn't think it was ever going to stop. She become numb to the taunting and caddy girls her age. It did hurt. Don't get Aniela Dahlman wrong. Thinking that you didn't have a friend in the world. It really bothered her, but she kept these things to herself.

Columbus raised his eyebrows. It felt rather weird. Why was Aniela being nice to him? She was supposed to reply with some nasty remark. But he didn't mind, not this time anyway. He had things up on his mind that's driving him crazy at the moment. He really needed someone to talk to at the moment, but definitely not Aniela. Probably his friends, or twin. But not Aniela. Everything about her seemed to annoy him that much. Though, he had to admit that she's pretty. That doesn't really matter to him though, just because she's pretty doesn't make her a good person. The only important thing to him is that she's beautiful inside. How can he know? He doesn't even know her and not planning to know her. That's why Columbus never judged anyone.
Though, he pitied her. Mainly because of the people teasing her just because she's a Muggleborn. Who cares if he/she is a Muggleborn? He hated blood prejudice. But hey, he can't change it. He stayed quiet the whole time and let her talk. Why did she amuse him so much? It's because of their rivalry. They were rivals ever since they met, he wasn't sure why though. Columbus wasn't the type of person who would hate anyone like that. Columbus didn't hate her, but he just dislike her an awful lot. Mainly because of her doings and her attitude. She can be nice at times though, he has to admit.
"Why do you care, all of the sudden? What's going on? For real now. What the hell is going on?" He asked her, suspicion in his voice. Why did Dahlman care about her all of the sudden? It's just weird. She wasn't supposed to care about him. Or ask those kind of questions even though they both hate Skylar. It's just weird how she suddenly cares. I mean, that's rather stupid and ridiculous. Are they even friends now? No. They're not. Columbus ran his fingers through his hair and sighed. What was going on with the world? The question ran through his mind all over again. And it doesn't seem to stop.
Curiosity was building inside of him nonstop. The girl had fascinated him now. And Columbus doesn't know why but she just did. word count: 404 tagged: aniela notes: i lost inspiration as i start writing this. D:

"I don't like how broken Skylar Bradley has made you, Thruston." Aniela's airy voice answered. She glanced over at him. "You are a nice bloke. Sometimes." she paused. Waving a hand, dismissively. "And you are changed because of this Hufflepuff soul-eater." she nodded matter of factly. "You should let her go.." she nodded. Rubbing the back of her neck. "I doubt that you will even take my advice. Regardless, I have given it."
"Why are you still here?" She cocked her head to the side. You and I don't get along and yet you continue to stand here and talk to me...this is kind of odd to be honest. I'm not going to ask you to leave though. Stay as long as you would like. A part of Aniela wished that she had something else in the form of conversation to bring up, but she was at a loss for words.
"Your hair is in your eyes." Aniela whispered. It wasn't a statement meant to ridicule or cause conflict she was just pointing out a fact as though she was telling him what the weather was like today. This wasn't something that she was used to. Holding a decent sized conversation with someone like him without insults being thrown around.
Aniela Dahlman bit her lip. "Sorry, I don't mean to pry.." she stared down at her multi-coloured painted fingernails and examined the purple on her index finger and then the yellow painted nail before snapping her fingers out of nowhere. "You deserve better, you know. I wish no harm on you. Even if we fight like a cat and dog..." she nodded. "I am on the same page as you are with Bradley. Though, the majority of the time. I just pity her and try to not let her actions hurt me. It's very hard to do. There must be some reason deeper behind why she's such a bitch though. That's what I believe though. I am odd, I know."
