you say that you only meant well WELL OF COURSE YOU DID- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - janessa goyle didn't believe in fairytales. it never did anyone any good to live in a fantasy land full of joy and peace -- such things didn't exist. her parents had been good enough to teach her that much. but on the other hand, janessa felt as though some things were entirely possible -- like falling in love -- that somehow created a small, but perfect piece of a future she had refused to dream about for so long. her entire life, basically. she grew up being told that she didn't need anybody -- if anything, they needed her. janessa only knew how to be strong because it was all she had been taught. but she refused to feel sorry for herself, because that wouldn't do any good. it wasn't like she was completely helpless; merlin, she was anything but. she was janessa goyle, she made her own way through life... even if that meant that she had to push other people out of the way to get there. at the moment, she was pushing a younger secretary out of her way so that she could get to the minister's office. sure, she was just a ministry worker, running around the place day-to-day delivering things, but that wasn't going to be so for very long. janessa had dreams -- big ones. she was going to be in this office one day, regardless of what it took to get her there. smiling ever-so-sweetly, janessa slid the papers across the minister's desk, nodding as he returned the smile. "anything else i can do for you, sir?" he shook his head, and she quickly turned to leave. one day, she would be sitting in that chair. one day, she could fire that imbecile of a secretary that walked directly in front of her every day, taking her sweet time. one day, she'd have it all. and it wouldn't be because she was a goyle -- it would be because she had worked for it...and it belonged to her.
a smirk across her lips, she flung a thick stack of papers in the secretary's direction. "file those. now." continuing towards the end of the hall, she turned right, walking in the direction towards tony's office. merlin, she needed to see him. with the day that she was having, she would end up blowing something (or someone) up if she didn't see him soon. tony summers just had a way of...calming her down, to say the least. janessa had her father's temper -- the smallest of things could set her off. like hearing that tony was sleeping over at adriana's place, or vice-versa. she couldn't tell him not to, technically, since they were only best friends. but janessa had a feeling in her stomach that there was something more going on, there, and she couldn't stand it. tony had told her repeatedly that there was nothing going on, and that she had nothing to worry about. but what he didn't seem to understand was that janessa knew adriana. she knew her a lot, actually. the two had been best friends, afterall, and if you don't know your best friend like the back of your hand, then you really have no right to give them that title. sure, adriana had been the one to set her and tony up, but...still. there was something that the two of them shared, she just knew it. janessa was an expert at these things. at least...that's what she told herself when these thoughts started appearing in the back of her mind.
janessa had experience when it came to denial. she had denied that her father had been brutally abusing her two younger sisters, but that had been entirely true. she didn't appreciate them being what they were, but....the least he could have done was throw them out of the house. sirius black had been a blood traitor, but his parents hadn't beaten him to a bloody pulp, had they? no, they hadn't. and while janessa couldn't deny that they deserved some punishment, she couldn't entirely accept something so....brutal. they were the goyles', they had to have more class than getting drunk and abusing the two children you weren't proud of. despite having run around with draco malfoy in his days at hogwarts, abusing his children was still pretty inexcusable. he was gregory goyle, not amycus carrow. amycus was....different. that man was insane. her father, however, was not. he had a bit of an addiction to firewhiskey, but he wasn't crazy. so when it really boiled down to it, he had no excuse for the things that he did. he was ashamed of himself for creating embarassments to him -- janessa knew that. her mother knew it, too, but she was too useless to do anything about it. glancing upward as she arrived just short of tony's office, her eyes narrowed. "can't you go be a slut in someone else's office? in case you haven't noticed, some of us actually have to work." janessa didn't even take the time to smirk before grabbing another stack of papers and sorting them into a desk. godric, this day certainly wasn't going to get any better.

* - - - - - - - SHE'S GOT IT OUT FOR MEbut i wear the biggest smile her career was something that she valued, but has never chosen for herself. modeling was every girl's dream, or at least any girl that she has ever known. and there were plenty of girls she knew personally that could be models. of course she only surrounded herself with girls just as gorgeous as she was, but it wasn't all about looks. those without ambition were useless. they had to have strive, high goals. they needed to want to go places, whether it be to the top of the modeling agency or the top of the ministry. if you relied on just your looks, it would only get you so far. that was why she had always gotten along so well with molly weasley or janessa goyle. those two, who were (or one had been) her closest friends, had the looks and the ambition. however molly was still in school and janessa was doing whatever it was in the ministry that adriana no longer bothered to care about.
but all her life had become was her modeling. for something that she had never even considered for a career, her life had certainly become very revolved around it. hell, she had even modified her body just for it. the scar above her eyebrow that she got when she was little had always been a nuisance growing up. now that it was gone though, she found herself missing it. but having slightly bigger breasts and her nose a little less gigantic wasn't horrible. those she could live with especially since guys seemed to like those. but yet all she seemed to be doing was modeling. a photoshoot here, a runway show there. adriana knew she would get somewhere, but she never thought that her fame would skyrocket as fast as it was. only last week she got an offer for a well-known designer to be the face of their next ad. she was to be in paris next week to sign the deal. but all of this left out time for herself. or a social life.
that wasn't to say she didn't have one. her social life was more involved with after parties and being surrounded by those she spent her days with already. what she meant by a social life was being able to go visit molly, her prodigy 'sister' who she had passed on the slytherin crown to. it meant going out for a drink with lilith, the closest she had to a best friend after janessa got bit by the insecurity and jealousy bugs and decided to hate her, not that adri minded since lily was oodles less drama. it also meant seeing tony more than just showing up at his work when she happened to be in town and was bored. it meant seeing derrick flint, her casual fling on the side, more often for satisfying she always loved getting from him. all of that was her kind of social life, despite her love for the fame she was entering into.
finally though, there had been a break in her schedule. and of course, of all places she had ended up it had to be the ministry. seeing tony always made her day brighter. plus, there was the added bonus that derrick also worked there as well, which she never minded fancying him a visit either. her kind had been torn of who to go see first, but tony always won. he always came first in her book, which always pissed off janessa. the girl had a chip on her shoulder the size of the fountain in the lobby. so what if she stayed and had a sleepover at tony's place. if she was that insecure about her boyfriend, she really should start shopping around for a new guy. clearly if she had been the one who set them up, why on earth would janessa think there was anything going on. tony was her best friend. he was one she always went to. it wasn't his fault that he was so charming and smashing and basically everything a girl would want in a girl.
shaking her head of the thoughts, adriana walked down the hall having just left tony's office. as much as she loved seeing him, she also knew when he had worked that he needed to do. his protests for her to stay though were followed by her ridiculing him for being lazy and promising they would see each other later. her eyes set into a roll though upon seeing janessa goyle walking towards her. a smirk formed out of her lips. "nessie, you really need to get the green monster off your shoulder. it doesn't suit you," she spoke, folding her arms across her chest. "don't you have someone's ass to go kiss or something? or maybe some intern to kiss your ass? it is looking ridiculous in that skirt. i fancy not having an imagination." while that was actually a compliment since adriana wouldn't lie about how nice of a body her old friend had, the tone she used made it sound almost mocking and the smile on her face clearly spelled it out as well. this was going to be interesting. and adriana just freed her schedule for lovely time with her dear old friend.
