what are you waiting for ,
declan didn't know what to expect when he had come to hogwarts. actually he did have some idea but times had changed. boys were still boys but students were not different. when he had first went, it had been about studies and who could have the top mark in the class but now it was all about who was at the top of the social ladder. declan knew right off the bat that this meant that he would not be at the top. actually dead bottom. he had been a big shot before but after all that he had been through, declan had been beaten down. he had now learned that it was better to keep his mouth shut than to say anything. no one knew who he was actually. he had come like the first years had. when he walked through the halls, he actually had no one that would get him. no one would come up to talk to him. declan didn't think that he was intimidating but he was one of the older students which meant that younger students were intimidated and the older students had already formed their groups. he knew no one. he hadn't actually thought what he had done when he came to school. declan had no friends here. he had actually snuck in with the durmstrang when they had been sorted and had scampered in. students were all wide-eyed as this lanky boy with hair that made half his height came up. declan had been there the whole process of the sorting but he hadn't emerged until the very end. he had stayed calm and hadn't tried to make any commotion. he had been lucky that he had been able to be sorted into ravenclaw. he was of age for being a seventh year, why shouldn't he be allowed to be at hogwarts? he only did have a thirst for knowledge.
actually declan wasn't here to learn. he had so much knowledge in his brain that he thought he'd be able to teach the courses himself. declan had come to hogwarts for entertainment purposes only. after so long of trying to figure out what to do with the rest of your life, declan had resorted to going back to school. while most students wanted to get out of hogwarts, declan had found himself back in. he had done enough traveling that he needed to settle himself down. he had found himself going places but feeling like he was standing in the same place all that time. he needed a reason to be living. declan hadn't felt like his life had been worth living since grace. he didn't think that anyone who were to walk in his life would make him feel the way that grace did but he wanted to feel something again. while his heart had stopped beating, he wanted to feel as if it still was. he had been through seventeen years of his life with a heart that actually worked. just because his heart wasn't working did not mean that he was heartless. he needed something to care for. declan wasn't that type of guy to be giving it away free like it was nothing though.
declan walked out to the courtyard sitting in the middle of the place. he plopped his butt down looking around. he pulled his legs in and ran his hand through his hair. he reached into the pocket of his spring jacket to pull out a medium sized notepad. he started to scribble words onto the pad. he saw he was by himself on this evening and he had felt like he needed to be inspired by something tonight. he looked up to see the sky was slowing starting to darken. he saw the sun on one side and the moon on the other. it was actually beautiful to see both up at the same time. declan had seen it many times but he had to admit, his favorite time of the day was this time. most students were inside and eating but declan, he didn't eat regular food. he was able to go out at night and find whatever blood was available. he was lucky enough that he wasn't just a new vampire. he had been able to satisfy his cravings with other sources. there had been times where declan had slipped up but he had learned from those times. now he was able to stay normal whenever anyone around him was bleeding. he had noticed that his thirst for human blood wasn't strong anymore. he actually craved the blood of other creatures.
declan didn't expect any company tonight. not for a while at least. it was supper time at hogwarts. he had easily finished whatever work he had to do and most students he knew would be going to parties tonight. there were those few loners but he had saw that most went to the library. declan hadn't been able to find himself a group yet so he wandered around alone. some would find this life a little lonely but declan was so used to it that it hardly bothered him anymore. he had learned that he couldn't rely on anyone anymore. not because he couldn't trust them but because people left him. death came upon everyone that he tried to accept into his life. that was why no one ever came into declan's life fully. he was able to make companions but no one who he could say would be permanent in his life. declan had never tried to find any other vampires to socialize with. he didn't know how other vampires were. some were insecure about who they were others were way too into it. declan had found a balance with himself. he actually grew very fond of humans especially children. they were people who were shocked by even the tiniest things in life. maybe that's what he needed in life. someone who could show him a reason to live but that was too much to ask for. all he needed right now was a companion. a buddy. someone to count on. while he was at hogwarts, he would try to make the best of it. that's what he had decided to do. he only had one year here before he would need to find something else to do. he must as well enjoy what he had here. all these seventh years now were only going to get one chance while he had been seventeen numerous times. he would continue being seventeen for as long as he lived.
